Welcome to the ECC Online Worship Experience. Just because we are practicing Social Distancing does not mean we practice Spiritual Distancing. I invite you to use this worship guide as we worship together in Spirit as Entwistle Community Church.

  • This can be a self-directed time of worship and contemplation.
  • This can be a family or friends time of worship and discussion.

Please take your time. Do not rush through the process. Create a space without distraction and enter into this time in prayer. May you experience the power of God's presence.

Welcome from Pastor Micah

Scripture Reading – Psalm 96. As you read remember that “our God reigns!” Also be mindful of the longing for God to “come and judge the earth.” “Judge” in this context does not mean, “come and bring us into judgment,” but, “come and put things right again.” I have also included Eugene Peterson’s paraphrase The Message which brings out this concept.  Feel free to read one translation or both.

Oh sing to the Lord a new song;

    sing to the Lord, all the earth!

Sing to the Lord, bless his name;

    tell of his salvation from day to day.

Declare his glory among the nations,

    his marvelous works among all the peoples!

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;

    he is to be feared above all gods.

For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,

    but the Lord made the heavens.

Splendor and majesty are before him;

    strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,

    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

    bring an offering, and come into his courts!

Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;

    tremble before him, all the earth!

10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!

    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;

    he will judge the peoples with equity.”

11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;

    let the sea roar, and all that fills it;

12     let the field exult, and everything in it!

Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy

13     before the Lord, for he comes,

    for he comes to judge the earth.

He will judge the world in righteousness,

    and the peoples in his faithfulness.

1-2 Sing God a brand-new song!

Earth and everyone in it, sing!

Sing to God—worship God!

2-3 Shout the news of his victory from sea to sea,

Take the news of his glory to the lost,

News of his wonders to one and all!

4-5 For God is great, and worth a thousand Hallelujahs.

His terrible beauty makes the gods look cheap;

Pagan gods are mere tatters and rags.

5-6 God made the heavens—

Royal splendor radiates from him,

A powerful beauty sets him apart.

Bravo, God, Bravo!

Everyone join in the great shout: Encore!

In awe before the beauty, in awe before the might.

8-9 Bring gifts and celebrate,

Bow before the beauty of God,

Then to your knees—everyone worship!

10 Get out the message—God Rules!

He put the world on a firm foundation;

He treats everyone fair and square.

11 Let’s hear it from Sky,

With Earth joining in,

And a huge round of applause from Sea.

12 Let Wilderness turn cartwheels,

Animals, come dance,

Put every tree of the forest in the choir—

13 An extravaganza before God as he comes,

As he comes to set everything right on earth,

Set everything right, treat everyone fair.

Lord of All Creation, the One who brought order from the chaos,

From the disorder prior to creation through the disorder after Adam and Eve,

Into that disorder you made a covenant of blessing for all nations with Abra’am,

From the disorder of exile in Egypt you delivered the people of Israel,

Into that disorder you gave them your Law and your Land,

From the disorder of rebellious leaders and corrupted prophets,

Into that disorder you sent ordering visions of Isaiah and Ezekiel and Daniel,

From the disorder of exiles and aches for a Messiah,

Into that disorder you sent to us your Messiah, Jesus

And gave us the Spirit.

Grant to us Order in our Disorder,

That we may cast aside the disorders of our life

and find your good order through it all.

Through Christ our Lord,

Who lives with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,

Now and Forever.

Scripture Reading - Romans 8:18-39

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,

“For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Closing Song - In Christ Alone

Each week when we are together for our services, we pause to take up an offering. As an act of worship, we regularly return to the Lord a portion of our income for the work of His kingdom through our local church. That moment is part of declaring together that our giving is in obedience and thankfulness to God for His overwhelming generosity toward us.
